Pieces of Xilópalo with a polished edge.
The Xilópalo is Fossil wood. Their process to be fossilized begins when the climatic conditions covered them with mud, sand or volcanic ash before they rotted. Water seeped through the mud and sand filling in the empty cells of decaying matter, after millions of years all the wood was gone from the tree and the rocks and minerals were in their place. It had turned to solid stone.
Some fossil wood still shows the original wood structure, even under a microscope.
The piece you receive may differ slightly from the photo shown, as the fossils are natural and no piece is identical. The size is approximate.
