Halite, salt or rock salt is a sedimentary mineral, a type of salt, which is the mineral (natural) form of sodium chloride (NaCl). It is usually colorless or white, but can also be light blue, dark blue, purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, or gray, depending on the inclusion of other materials, impurities, and anomalies in the crystals.
Some of its most common uses are seasoning food, it is also used in road safety to melt snow and ice from the road and for medicinal purposes.
