Fossil teeth of Mosasaurus sp.
Its name "Reptile of the Meuse River" refers to the fact that the first specimen was found near the Meuse River.
They were enormous marine reptiles that measured up to 15 meters in length and weighed about 20 tons. They lived in deep seas, hunting near the surface of the ocean, where they fed on fish, turtles, ammonites, and possibly smaller mosasaurs, making them one of the most dangerous predators that has ever lived on the planet.
Deposits: United States, Holland, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Turkey and Bulgaria.
