Collection of Mohs Hardness Scale Minerals presented in a robust, handmade natural wooden box.
The Mohs scale is a list of ten Minerals ordered by their hardness, from lowest to highest. It is based on the principle that any substance can scratch other softer ones, without the opposite happening.
This collection contains 10 pieces in the classic format of 4x4 cm cardboard boxes, including a natural diamond and a jeweler's loupe to observe each specimen in more detail. In addition, the labels are numbered with the order of hardness and are colored so that you can easily learn to differentiate them.
The wooden box allows you to exchange the minerals and order them to your liking.
The Collection Includes 10 Representative Samples of the following Minerals:
Talc – Hardness 1, Gypsum – Hardness 2, Calcite – Hardness 3 , Fluorite – Hardness 4 , Apatite – Hardness 5 , Orthose – Hardness 6 , Quartz – Hardness 7 , Topaz – Hardness 8 , Corundum – Hardness 9 , Diamond – Hardness 10 .
The pieces you receive may differ slightly from the photo shown as the minerals are natural and no piece is identical. The size is approximate. The minerals are glued with hot silicone, if desired, the silicone can be easily removed without damaging the piece with ethyl alcohol and thus separate them from the base where they are glued.
