Copper is a native element . It was discovered in prehistoric times, being named after the Greek kyprios, the name of the island of Cyprus, where important copper mines existed in ancient times.
This mineral is used as an ore for the metal copper. It is extracted in the mines and usually appears mixed with other copper minerals such as malachite or chrysocolla.
In its multiple uses, it is highly appreciated for its excellent ductility and high electrical conductivity, being used in the manufacture of wiring and pipes.
